Chick Honored During Her First-Career NASCAR Ceremony

Inside Line Promotions – DE SOTO, Kan. (Dec. 26, 2016) – Mandy Chick wrapped up 2016 by partaking in her first career NASCAR ceremony.

Chick, who earned the 2016 Missouri State Rookie of the Year in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, ventured to the NASCAR Hall of Fame at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte, N.C., on Dec. 9 for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Awards, which celebrates the top short-track drivers in the United States and Canada.

“I had my mom, dad and grandpa there with me,” she said. “What was really cool about this was there are approximately 10,000 NASCAR drivers across the country at my level. At this banquet there were 64 that were honored. There were only two females and I was the only American honored so I feel very fortunate and blessed to have the opportunity that I did this year.”

Chick participated in a pair of ceremonies beginning with a morning banquet. She was given a block of crystal with a light in the base that lights up. The crystal is engraved with Chick’s name and Rookie of the Year title.

“That was very, very neat,” she said. “Then at noon we had rehearsal for the NASCAR banquet because it was lived streamed. The evening banquet was an evening gown and tie event. I walked the red carpet with my grandpa. I received my award by walking across the stage with my class and took a picture with the rest of the Rookie of the Year winners.

“It was the first NASCAR ceremony I was a part of so it was very eye-opening. It was amazing. It was so cool to see something so unique in our country that was in that central area of NASCAR in Charlotte. As we walked in for the evening banquet there was an entrance with race cars from past and current racers. It was really cool to see all of that and meet a lot of great people.”
